Apokaukos, John
Bishop of Naupaktos in central Greece (qq.v.), noted for his correspondence, which illuminates the legal and social history of the late 12th and early 13th centuries. Learned and cosmopolitan, he was also a strong supporter of the Despotate of Epiros (q.v.), as were Demetrios Chomatenos and George Bardanes, the metropolitan of Kerkyra (qq.v.).
